Summer!
Guess what? It's summer! You know what that means? Free time! I had a few false alarms—finishing my project, finishing my class, Lee graduating, Lee finishing her thesis, the warm sun peeking out, only for it to snow the day before memorial day—but this time it's real. I'm in California now, and nothing can stop me (except maybe my momma asking for help organizing her classroom on her last day or two of work). I've been out of school for a bit now, so summer had a different meaning for me this time around. It means no more kiddos, no more giant piles of laundry, no more mountains of dishes, no more making dinner every night. It's really sad, because that's everything I love, and I had an amazing year in Reno playing house. But it's also exciting, because it means wedding planning time! I decided I couldn't even think about the wedding until I got here, because I just didn't have enough time in the day. I've said it before and I'll say it again... I don't know how you full-time mommas do it. I could barely keep up just being a part0time Auntie, and I didn't have a job, school, or even much of a blog! That's another thing I'm excited about this summer. I plan on getting into this blogging thing full swing, and I can't wait!

April Cakes
In April I made my first ever cake for a complete stranger for money. I'm so excited, I might actually be able to pull off doing this some day. I made a cake for a baby shower to match these plates and napkins, but softened up a bit to be more springy and baby-y. It was a tea party theme, so I made a teapot and some tea cups.
I also just happened to be in Wisconsin right around my littlest niece's 2nd birthday, so I made her a cake. It was so much fun, because my sis Tonya lives so far away, so I haven't gotten to make either of her kids cakes yet. Haylee is an animal lover, she's been crazy about the zoo, and especially giraffes, since she was less than a year. I made all the animals, and my mom made the cake to put them on. Haylee just loved it and kept pointing to the different animals and making their sounds.
For my brother-in-law's birthday, I made an inside out german chocolate cake. Best. Cake. Ever. And thus begins my starting to like not only baking, but eating baked goods. I'm not sure how I feel abou this.

Almost There
So I know I said I'd post after I finished my project, but now I have a final to study for. I might have time before then to post something, but no promises. If not, then next Thursday for realsies!
